Dominican Republic Travelogue
First America-Caribbean Regional Tournament
At Juan Pablo Olympic Center
Initially, this inaugural tournament in the Dominican Republic was planned to be held over two days, on July 27 and 28. However, considering the scale of the event, it was decided to hold the entire tournament in just one day, on the 27th.
Since they were still familiarizing themselves with organizing such events, the local team seemed to have faced significant challenges in the preparations.
Notably, the athletes from the Las Terrenas dojo in Samaná made significant contributions during the tournament.
We sincerely hope that the instructors who participated will utilize this experience to further hone their skills at their respective dojos and to benefit from even more advanced instruction from SOKE in the future.

Visit to the Dominican Republic
From July 22 to July 31, we visited the Dominican Republic.
July 23h
At SHIHAN Quiñones' dojo
Initially we had planned only to observe the dojo without any instruction. However, moved by the students' passionate training, SOKE provided instruction in his regular clothes, not wanting to take the time to change into his dogi.

July 24
The following day we again visited SHIHAN Quiñones' dojo.
Before the students arrived SOKE provided BŌ-JUTSU instruction.

SOKE conducted Mr. Montalvo's grading examination for 3rd Dan and provided direct instruction (jikiden) on BASSAI.
His family, who had traveled from Ohio, USA, accompanied him. They were deeply moved upon seeing for the first time and brought to tears.

July 29
Departing from the Dominican Republic, we arrived at Newark Airport. During a 20-hour layover before the connecting flight to Tokyo, we took a two-and-a-half-hour drive each way to visit SHIHAN Jeter Vargas' dojo in New Jersey.
